EPCOT is a unique theme park that celebrates Walt Disney’s vision of a world community. While his actual vision never came to fruition, World Showcase currently has 11 pavilions dedicated to different countries all over the world. The pavilions highlight cultures, food, drink, and more, and four times a year, EPCOT has festivals.
Beginning July 15, and running until November 20, 2021, the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival is one of the most popular. You can eat and drink your way around the world at experiences only offered during the Festival.
Food and Wine normally takes place in the fall, starting either late August or early September, but Disney has extended this year’s festival, likely because of it’s popularity and limited capacity. No matter the reason, I know I’m excited! You will need a valid ticket for admission to the park, plus a park reservation. Even more exciting is the opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure October 1, 2021, in the France pavilions!
The Festival has something for everyone of all ages. While they’ve not yet officially announced the offerings, Disney has said that popular Outdoor Kitchens like Greece, Germany, Canada, and Appleseed Orchard will be returning this year. There are usually over 100 snacks and unique treats offered during the festival, so chances are you’ll find something you like! Remy’s Hide and Squeak Scavenger Hunt will also be returning. For this “game,” you will purchase a map and stickers from either Port of Entry, Mouse Gear, and other Festival locations. You will then hunt for Remy statues hidden all over the World and, once you have found them and matched the correct stickers, you return to Disney Traders with your completed map to get your prize from Remy! Fun to occupy the kids while you have a snack or a drink. EVERYBODY WINS!
They will also offer Emile’s Fromage Montage, where you and your family can sample cheese from around the world presented in unique ways. Get your Festival Passport and purchase 5 cheese dishes, getting your passport “stamped” along the way, and return your completed Passport to Shimmering Sips to receive a unique specialty prize themed to the Festival.
Along with character cavalcades, featuring Mickey and Friends, and the Princesses, Disney will offer some fabulous entertainment opportunities, including two of my FAVORITES: Mariachi Cobre and Voices of Liberty (the American Gardens Theater). Over in Canada, you can find the Jammin Gardeners. More entertainment will be announced as the Festival gets closer, so check back for updates!
And, of course, you can also take in everything else EPCOT has to offer! Spaceship Earth, Soarin, Test Track and more! Fall has become one of my favorite times to visit Walt Disney World!
Pro tip to help you enjoy all that the Food and Wine Festival has to offer: avoid weekends! Seriously! It can get crazy packed! I made the mistake of entering from the International Gateway on a Saturday afternoon and it took an hour just to get up to the entrance of Future World. The following year we attended on a Thursday and it was amazing. We were able to get a spot along the railing to enjoy fireworks.
Things are starting to fill up, so don’t delay! Contact me today to get your vacation set up and get started on a magical journey eating and drinking around the world!
**As a reminder: Disney’s current policies require all guests ages 2 and up to wear face coverings at all times unless actively eating or drinking (while stationary) or for socially distant photos. Photos may not show current compliance, as they are older.
