RESTAURANT REVIEW: Steakhouse 71

Located just off the main lobby in the Contemporary Resort, Steakhouse 71 is the newest restaurant at Walt Disney World. It is a table service restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and advanced dining reservations are strongly recommended. This restaurant replaced The Wave…of American Flavors, but I have to be completely honest and say, you’re not gonna miss that! Steakhouse 71 might be my new favorite restaurant! I say might be because “recency bias.”

The restaurant was named in honor of 1971, the year Walt Disney World opened, and it is decorated in lots of nostalgic photos and memorabilia.

When you enter the restaurant, there is a lounge with 2 large seating areas, to the right and behind the host stand. The dining rooms are to the left, and they are absolutely beautiful. There is a nice mixture of tables and booths, and the decor is very tasteful, and, like the recent Contemporary refurbishments, the back wall features artwork by Mary Blair.

We have only had breakfast, so I’m going to stick to that for now, but I am dying to try lunch and dinner! The first thing I want to mention about breakfast are the bottomless mimosas. Yes, BOTTOMLESS mimosas. For $19, you can have all the mimosas your little heart desires. Have two of you that want to drink mimosas? Order one and share!

The menu offers a variety of breakfast classics and Walt Disney’s favorites, at surprisingly affordable prices. There are allergy menus available and, as always, make sure that you talk with a chef about your allergy needs and menu requests!

Up first, the gluten free Steakhouse 71 Feast. This is on the allergy menu as safe for gluten/wheat, peanut/tree nut, shellfish, and soy allergies, and you get ALL OF THIS FOOD for only $20. This has Eggs Benedict, bacon, sausage, Mickey-shaped waffle, bacon-cheddar grits, breakfast potatoes, and fresh fruit. The highlight, for me, was the Eggs Benedict, with a gluten free english muffin. Definitely not something you can eat everyday at a restaurant with a gluten allergy! It was amazing! The only thing I could do without are the grits, but I’m just not a grits person!

Up next, the Western Omelette, with ham, onions, peppers, and cheddar, served with breakfast potatoes. Look at how perfect that cheese looks on there! Super tasty!

And not to be denied every want and need she has, the kid ordered one of everything on the menu. She wanted bacon and eggs, Mickey waffles, and fruit. And that’s exactly what our wonderful server brought for her, and he creatively charged us for the meal that would cost us the least amount of money. THE MAGIC OF DISNEY!

This was hands down one of our very favorite breakfasts we’ve ever had at Walt Disney World, and we will most definitely dine here again. Contact me today to book your vacation and ask me about making reservations of Steakhouse 71!
