Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, is located in Ko Olina, Hawaii, and it is the perfect place to go for a taste of Hawaiian paradise mixed with that Disney magic! Guests staying at Aulani can snorkel without worrying about unpredictable waves and currents. You will get a clear view of local marine life in this machine-made lagoon, right near the pool! Learn more about snorkeling at Rainbow Reef!

A Machine-Made Saltwater Lagoon

Rainbow Reef is the only private snorkeling lagoon on Oahu. Since it is machine-made, it is clear of rip tides, undercurrents, huge waves, and other snorkeling obstacles that can be difficult for young kids. Yet this lagoon is still home to thousands of tropical fish, like blue tangs. You will be able to quite literally find Dory! All your necessary equipment is included in the daily (or length of stay, more on that later) fee, too! But for those not adventurous enough to try snorkeling, there is a large viewing window available to watch and photograph your family. Enjoy a clear view of the marine life here, like butterfly fish, angelfish, surgeon fish, blue tangs, and more!

Search for small details, like hidden Mickeys or hidden Menehune. The Menehune are the mysterious little creatures of the island. There are also beautiful, artistic carvings in the rocks. And because of the synthetic nature of the experience, it is perfect for beginners and experts alike! Located in the middle of the Waikolohe Valley Pool area, just steps from your room, this artificial lagoon is approximately 77 degrees Fahrenheit. This reflects the cool, natural habitat of its fish. Some guests may find this too cold, so be sure you’re ready for the temps before you pay and commit to snorkeling!
