Check Out My Top 15 Ice Cream Spots at Walt Disney World!

Unless you’re new here, you know I’m here for the food! And one of my FAVORITE foods is ICE CREAM! Especially in sweltering hot Florida summers! There are plenty of places to get ice cream at Walt Disney World, but I have compiled a list of the Top 15 Ice Cream Spots in Walt Disney World. These are places you CANNOT miss. Let’s get into it!

15. Aloha Isle – Magic Kingdom, Adventureland

Top 15 Ice Cream Spots - Aloha Isle

I get it, you’re shocked this is #15. If you’re a first timer at Disney World, I guarantee someone said “you HAVE TO get a Dole Whip.” And yes, they’re delicious. But I don’t consider Aloha Isle as one of the BEST ice cream spots.

For starters, it isn’t even the only place you can get a Dole Whip anymore! (More on that to come). Secondly, and I know this is weird, but not everyone loves pineapple. And there are not a ton of alternatives available at Aloha Isle. Finally, the seating is not great, the lines are always long, and it’s not that in-the-shade, so your delicious frozen treat melts all too quickly! But all that aside, Dole Whip is a must-do for first timers! It is light, delicious, and refreshing!

Currently, you can get pineapple, vanilla, pineapple-vanilla swirl, coconut, coconut-pineapple swirl, raspberry-pineapple swirl, bottled water, and pineapple juice at Aloha Isle. And they do have mobile order. A LIFE SAVER.

14. Storybook Treats – Magic Kingdom, Fantasyland

Top 15 Ice Cream Spots - Snow White Cone

This ice cream spot in the Magic Kingdom is great for a quick snack, but it’s just a simple quick service window. Serving soft-serve ice cream, fountain drinks, and bottled water, guests can get sundaes, floats, cones, or cups. Flavors include Dole Whip Lime, Chocolate, Vanilla, or Swirl. There are also specialty treats, usually themed after Fantasyland, like Peter Pan Float or Snow White Cone.

13. Pineapple Lanai – The Polynesian

Top 15 Ice Cream Spots - Pineapple Lanai

Again, nothing extraordinary, but this is the location OUTSIDE of the parks that is home to the traditional pineapple Dole Whip! Available in Pineapple, Vanilla, or Swirl, and, unlike Aloha Isle, you can add a shot or two of rum! Even though it’s simple and basic, it deserves to be in the Top 15 Ice Cream Spots for that reason alone!

12. Aunty Gravity’s Galactic Goodies – Magic Kingdom, Tomorrowland

Aunty Gravity's Galactic Goodies

Located in the heart of Tomorrowland, this place is good for a quick bite. But there is no indoor seating. Maybe not the best for a SUPER hot summer day. Here, you can get Floats, Sundaes, Smoothies, Shakes, Cones, and Cups, as well as assorted fountain drinks and bottled water. Flavors include chocolate, vanilla, or swirl.

Maybe this seems silly to include in the Top 15 Ice Cream Spots, but occasionally they have fun Tomorrowland-themed treats, like the 50th Anniversary Carousel of Progress Uncle Orville treats! There IS a great, big, beautiful tomorrow with all that delicious ice cream in a souvenir bathtub!

11. Swirls on the Water – Disney Springs, Marketplace

DOLE WHIP FANS, REJOICE! Alright, fam, this is the BEST Dole Whip location at Walt Disney World. Here, you can dive head first into the Dole Whip Nachos! Dole Whip, Waffle Cone “nachos,” and toppings. Or, for the ULTIMATE Dole Whip experience, try the new Dole Whip Flight: Lemon and blue Cookie Dough, Pineapple and Vanilla, and Habanero Lime DOLE Whips! Or maybe you want the Dole Whip Sangria Float? Trust me, this new place is exactly where you want to go for your Dole Whip fix!

10. Sunshine Tree Terrace – Magic Kingdom, Adventureland

Top 15 Ice Cream Spots
Orange Bird is my BAE

If you know me at all, you know my favorite things are Orange Bird and Sunshine Tree Terrace, so it might surprise you that it’s only number 10! But they got rid of the classic Citrus Swirl (HANDS DOWN the #1 Walt Disney World treat of all time), and, like Aloha Isle, the lines are long and there is not a ton of seating in the shade. It is not uncommon to end up wearing a lot of your ice cream treats here!

I Lava You Float

Soft-serve flavors here include chocolate, vanilla, chocolate-vanilla swirl, Dole Whip Orange, and Orange-Vanilla swirl. You can get a cone, cup, or float, with your favorite ice cream flavor and your favorite fountain beverage. Fountain Beverages , bottled water, coffee, tea, and hot cocoa are also available.

I would be remiss if I did not introduce you to what is likely the BEST float available inside the theme parks. Give the I Lava You Float a try! It is to DIE for! Themed after the Pixar Short, this float is Orange Dole Whip, strawberry Fanta, Passion Fruit Syrup, and topped with Pop Rocks. It’s absolutely delicious and I cannot get enough of it!

9. Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop – Disney Springs, Marketplace

Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop Sundaes

If you’re looking for an old-fashioned soda jerk with endless options, this is the place for you! There is indoor and outdoor seating available, but the lines can be VERY VERY VERY LONG. Here, they’re serving up Hand Scooped Ice Cream Cones, Sundaes, Shakes, Malts and Coffee Specialties, with the World Famous Ghirardelli Chocolate Candy as the star!

8. Boardwalk Ice Cream – The Boardwalk

Top 15 Ice Cream Spots

Located on the Boardwalk in the former home of Ample Hills, this ice cream shop is serving up cones, cups, sundaes, milkshakes, fountain beverages, and bottled water. Flavors served include vanilla, cookies & cream, rainbow sherbet, chocolate, butter pecan, coffee, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, chocolate-vanilla swirl (no sugar added), and vanilla or chocolate soy milk ice cream (plant based).

7. Gelateria Toscana – Epcot World Showcase, Italy

Bongiorno! This relatively amazing new location is serving up Gelato, Sorbet, Assorted Italian desserts, Peroni, Chianti, Prosecco, Italian Sodas, Espresso, assorted fountain beverages, and coffee.

Gelati, cone or cup – two scoops. Flavors include chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, cookies & cream, stracciatella (an Italian gelato variety with fine, irregular shavings of chocolate), and Amerena cherry (a smaller, darker cherry grown in the Bologna and Modena regions of Italy).

Gelateria Toscana - Frozen Sangria, Frozen Italian Margarita

Sorbetti, cone or cup – two scoops. Flavors include Lemon or Strawberry. Also available: Gelati Floats, Italian Margaritas, and Frozen White or Red Sangria!

6. Anandapur Ice Cream Truck – Animal Kingdom, Asia

Anandapur Ice Cream Truck

I cannot emphasize just how much I love this place. And truly, it’s nothing special! It’s literally just an ice cream truck! But one of our new favorite activities is to ride Expedition Everest and then relax with some yummy ice cream!

Serving cones, cups, and floats, choose from chocolate, vanilla, or swirl. You can choose whatever fountain drink you want for your float, or order a fountain drink to wash down your ice cream cone. They also serve beer.

Yeti Sundae

For a unique treat, try the Yeti Sundae! Chocolate soft-serve, topped with vanilla soft-serve, blue cake crumbs, sugar, snowflakes, and a chocolate Yeti!

Here we go! We’re getting into the TOP 5 of my Top 15 Ice Cream Spots in Walt Disney World!!! Has your favorite already been listed or are you still waiting to see if it made my list?!

5. Plaza Ice Cream Parlor – Magic Kingdom, Main St. USA

Top 15 Ice Cream Spots

This classic, located right across from Cinderella Castle, offers one-of-a-kind ice cream sundaes, cones, and cups. Flavors include vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, cookies & cream, swirl (fat free and no sugar added), raspberry sorbet (no sugar added), and plant-based options are available!

View from Plaza Ice Cream Parlor Seating

The best part about this location is the view. Time your visit right and you could grab front row seats for the fireworks!

4. Hollywood Scoops – Hollywood Studios, Sunset Boulevard

Hollywood Scoops

Located right at the base of the Hollywood Tower Hotel (checking in?), this ice cream place is serving up sundaes, cups, and cones. Choose chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, cookies & cream, butter pecan, mint chocolate chip, orange sherbet, or fat free, no sugar added vanilla.

The best thing about Hollywood Scoops, though, isn’t the ice cream. You can actually get Mickey waffles for breakfast here, and wash them down with a nice Mimosa!

3. Beaches and Cream Soda Shop – Beach Club Resort

Located at the Beach Club, just a short walk from the International Gateway at Epcot, this incredibly popular location is an EVENT. Serving lunch and dinner, advanced dining reservations are incredibly hard to get and HIGHLY recommended. If you don’t get a reservation, there is a walk-up window that serves ice cream exclusively, but if you want a meal, you’ll need a reservation!

Known for the World Famous Kitchen Sink, which is an entire ice cream shop in an actual kitchen sink, there are WAY more desserts available that are just as good. Here, you can also enjoy the plant-based cookie fries! strawberry shortcake, and brownie a la mode! Or maybe you want a milkshake, ice cream soda, or alcoholic float! Ice cream flavors include vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip, cookies & cream, butter pecan, rainbow sherbet, and coffee. Choose a banana split, fudge mud slide, Snickers sundae, old fashioned sundae – 2 or 3 scoops, cones, or cups.

No Way Jose - Beaches and Cream

Or go with the No Way Jose! This peanut butter and hot fudge sundae is chocolate and vanilla ice cream, peanut butter and chocolate chips, whipped cream, and a cherry on top! Disney World’s true hidden gem!

2. Salt & Straw – Disney Springs, West Side

Salt & Straw - Honey Lavender and Double Fold Vanilla

Yes, it is THAT good. Just opening in April, this spot DID jump straight to number 2. Why? It is that delicious! This ever-evolving menu is unbelievably delicious, combining flavors that don’t sound like they match, but WHOA BABY do they match!

Serving up cones, scoops, or pints, flavors include sea salt with caramel ribbons, double fold vanilla, chocolate gooey brownie, panther coffee chocolate tres leches, salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough, cinnamon snickerdoodle, honey lavender, strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper, salty donut guava and cheese, and arbequina olive oil. Vegan flavors available include freckled mint chocolate chip and roasted pineapple coconut sherbet.

1. L’Artisan Des Glaces – Epcot World Showcase, France

Top 15 Ice Cream Spots - Number 1

The. Best. So good, that I need you all to stop going there. The lines are ridiculous. But seriously, this is THE place to get ice cream at Walt Disney World. I will not apologize for my correctness on this one!

This is home of the Croque Glace – an ice cream sandwich made on homemade brioche, pressed fresh to order. TikTok told you, I’m sure. I know this because the last time I went here, after standing in line for 20 minutes and still miles from the door, a cast member came out and told the line it was sold out because TikTok made it so popular they run out of bread. So GO EARLY!

Or maybe you’re like me, and you’re just here for the Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich BECAUSE IT’S GLUTEN FREE! I know, me too. Or maybe you want an Ice Cream Martini! Yes, you read that right. ICE CREAM MARTINI. They also serve cups, cones, and sundaes! Flavors include vanilla, chocolate, candied peanuts with chocolate peanut fudge, caramelized pecan, cinnamon caramel apple, coconut white chocolate, coffee, caramel fleur de sel, yogurt & blueberry, and mint chocolate ice creams; and mango, strawberry, raspberry, and pina colada sorbets.

So there you have it! Did YOUR favorite ice cream place make the list? If not, where else do I need to go?!?! For more information about Walt Disney World, visit here.

October Cruise?

0 0
Read Time:4 Minute, 9 Second

Are You Wanting a Disney Vacation for Fall Break but Worried About the Crowds? Try an October Cruise!

Look, I get it. October is my absolute FAVORITE time to head to Walt Disney World. But the week of Indigenous Peoples Day is WAY crowded! Like, we waited almost 2 hours for a bus to Saratoga Springs from Magic Kingdom crowded. Once again, that week is Fall Break for a ton of states. Usually, this leads to wall-to-wall people in the parks. So, why not consider an October Cruise instead?

Halloween on the High Seas

October Cruise: Halloween on the High Seas
Photo: Disney

You may not get to go to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but Halloween on the High Seas is its own incredible event that you may even find better than the party!

Returning Halloween Classics
October Cruise: Halloween Costumes

Photo Disney
Photo: Disney
  • Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party – the atrium of each ship will be decked out in Halloween decor, and this party is one you won’t want to miss! There will be ghoulish games, trick-or-treating, and a dance party with all your favorite Disney Characters in their best Halloween Costumes!
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing and Scream – Join Jack and Sally for this “Seasons Screamings” interactive movie experience, where guests can Sing and Scream along with the popular film.
  • Haunted Stories of the Sea – On deck, take part in this campfire-style story time, featuring a spooky ghost story or two. By the Family Pool, Funnel Vision will be playing Halloween-themed movies.
  • More Family Fun – mask making, pumpkin carving, special Halloween-themed food and beverages, both in rotational dining and throughout the ship.
  • Adult-Exclusive – Head to adult-exclusive venues for costume contests, Villainous dance parties, and more!
New Halloween Offerings
October Cruise - Hocus Pocus

Photo: Disney
Clarabelle Cow, Minnie Mouse, and Daisy Duck will don NEW costumes this season! Photo: Disney

I’m MOST excited for this! Check out this amazing new character meet-and-greet opportunity! Clarabelle Cow, Minnie Mouse, and Daisy Duck will be dressed up for the first time as the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus! HOW COOL IS THIS?!?!?!

The centerpiece of every ship during Halloween sailings is the signature magical Pumpkin Tree towering over the atrium lobby, each with sprouting Jack-O-Lanterns and flickering lights.

October Cruise - Pumpkin Tree

But aboard the Disney Wish, guests will witness the debut of an all-new Pumpkin Tree in the “Cinderella”-inspired Grand Hall. This enchanted tree that grew perfect gourds with the help of a Wishing Star at night produced the perfect pumpkin that became the coach that carried Cinderella to the Prince’s Ball.

What’s Included in a Disney Cruise?

What’s Included?!

Disney Cruise Line is basically an all-inclusive on the sea. More activities, dining, and entertainment is included in the base price of your cruise than in any other cruise line. And this means you will have LESS to pay once on board. To start, almost all of the ship’s entertainment is available at no cost. This means Broadway-quality shows, movies, including first-run movie screenings, fireworks at sea, and your favorite Disney characters. But you will need to pay extra for premium experiences. Things like the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Pirates League, or the Royal Court Tea.

What about dining experiences? 24-hour room service, rotational dining in three unique dining rooms, unlimited soft serve ice cream, unlimited coffee, tea, and soda, and quick service bites throughout the ship are all included in the cruise price. You will only need to pay extra for Adult-exclusive dining, bottled water, alcohol, and specialty drinks.

Kids Clubs, including the Oceaneer Club/Oceaneer Lab, for children aged 3-12, Edge, for children aged 11-14, and Vibe, for teenagers aged 14-17, are all included, and supervised, for your kids to go off and enjoy a taste of freedom! Also, nightclubs, lounges, live music, adults-only pool and whirlpool, and the fitness center are all included for adults!

Disney’s Castaway Cay
October Cruise

Castaway Cay offers a family and adult-exclusive beach, all included. You will also enjoy access to beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas, too! And that’s not even mentioning your barbecue lunch, unlimited soft serve ice cream, coffee, tea, and soda! Also, free tram transportation from the ship to the beach.

Castaway Cay will also have live music, your favorite Disney characters, and kids and teens clubs. Again, this is all included in the price of your cruise. You do not have to pay for ANY of this. Maybe you’ll choose to enjoy the walking paths around the island, or take part in the Castaway Cay 5K and receive a finisher medal, or take an adult-exclusive yoga class.

Snorkel gear, floats, and rafts; book Port Adventures; or rent bicycles for additional fees. Bottled water, alcohol, and specialty drinks are also available for an additional cost.

More information about Disney Cruise Line can be found here.

Take a Look at Some Cruise Options for This October!

Springfield at Universal Studios

Read Time:2 Minute, 42 Second

An In-Depth Look at Springfield: Home of the Simpsons at Universal Studios Florida

Being the longest-running animated television series in history means that The Simpsons has generations of fans. So it’s only natural that families can head to Universal Studios Florida and enjoy Springfield: Home of the Simpsons! This is a slice of Simpsons fun sure to please everyone, from Maggie to Homer! Let’s take a closer look into Springfield!

Springfield
Jebediah Obediah Zachariah Jedediah Springfield, who killed a bear with his bare hands – or not

Springfield: Rides

Springfield: Kang & Kodos Twirl & Hurl

There are 2 attractions in Springfield. I think a general rule of building an amusement park is to have some form of the Dumbo ride, so let me introduce: Kang & Kodos Twirl & Hurl. This version of the classic aerial coaster sees humans “captured” by the titular aliens. They are then forced to “attack” other Earthlings by using the flight path of their flying saucer to pass by and activate targets bearing the faces of different citizens of Springfield. Riders control how low or high they want to fly.

Springfield Simpsons the Ride

As with most rides built these days, the Simpsons Ride is a motion simulator full of screens, but still a ton of fun. Join the Simpsons as they go on a theme-park adventure to Krustyland! Sideshow Bob then shows up, bent on revenge against Bart Simpson and the rest of the family.

Springfield
Sideshow Bob is Still Hunting Bart!

Take off on an through Krustyland and the rest of Springfield to escape Sideshow Bob. This is a must-do experience for fans of the show, featuring all the familiar sights and sounds, more than 24 of the regular characters, and that classic theme song.

Entertainment

Give Homer a hug! Character meet-and-greets take place, where you can meet the family, Krusty the Clown, and Sideshow Bob! You can also make your way to Midway Games and play traditional carnival-style games to win Simpsons-themed prizes.

Shopping

Springfield Milhouse outside the Kwik-E-Mart

The main gift shop is, naturally, the Kwik-E-Mart. You can find all kinds of crazy Simpsons souvenirs here, and take your photo on the bench with none other than Milhouse!

You can also head to the Duff Kiosk, where you can grab a huge number of Duff Beer souvenirs!

Food and Beverage

And speaking of Duff Beer…head to Duff Brewery, an outdoor bar serving Duff Beer, the famed Squishee of the Kwik-E-Mart, and more. The TVs, of course, show continuous loops of the Simpsons.

Springfield Moe's Tavern

Do you wish you could grab a Duff Beer at Moe’s? Well, dreams do come true. Grab a Duff Beer (if you’re at least 21, of course), or a Flaming Moe, a non-alcoholic orange soda, made with dry ice for the flaming effect.

Springfield Lard Lad Donuts

The biggest, pinkest donuts you’ve ever had? They have those! Just head to Lard Lad’s!

Or you can head to one of six restaurants that make up Fast Food Boulevard: Lisa’s Treehouse of Horror; Luigi’s Pizza; the Frying Dutchman; Cletus’s Chicken Shack; Krusty Burger; or Flaming Moe’s.

Ready to head to Springfield (and Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park, and all the other awesome stuff at Universal Studios)? Contact me today!

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 45 Second

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater is One of Hollywood Studios Most Popular Restaurants. Read More About It!

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater

Even though Hollywood Studios is one of the most popular theme parks at Walt Disney World, they don’t have a ton of restaurants. And the restaurants they do have are difficult to get into. But none are harder to get than the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater!

The Setting is EVERYTHING – Top-Notch Disney Imagineering Theming!!

Located in Hollywood Studios, this unique “drive-in” restaurant features booths shaped like cars, dim lighting, and science fiction film clips on a drive-in movie screen. For starters, this is niche dining, and if you’re looking for a great dinner conversation, this is not the place for you! The cars seat 6, in rows of 2, so you can really only talk to the person next to you. And it’s dark. You may doze off, not that I would be ashamed because a nap is a nap, but if you don’t want to fall asleep, maybe, again, this is not for you!

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater
Like Noah’s Ark, you’ll go 2 by 2
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Interior

It really does seem like you’re at a drive-in, but the film clips play on a loop and you WILL see them over and over and over and, likely, over again. Yes, it does get old. But it’s still an incredibly fun experience. The film clips are not scary. They’re more cheesy 50’s-type clips with corny aliens. When in doubt, pack a tablet, and let little ones blow off steam however they like!

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Cars Interior
Seriously, the inside of this restaurant is amazing

The Food – Introducing a BRAND NEW Menu!!

APPS AND SALADS
Sci-Fi Smoked Wings

As of June 2, 2022, there is a brand new menu, and it looks absolutely incredible! Start your meal with the all- new Sci-fi Smoked Wings. These wings come tossed in a porter barbecue sauce with a house-made pineapple and poppy seed coleslaw. YUM!

Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Photo: Disney

Or maybe you’ll want the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. This plant-based blend of spinach, artichoke, red peppers, cauliflower, cashew cheese, and oat milk is served with house-made chips.

If you’re anything like me, you sometimes just want a nice, big salad. Like the Black Garlic Caesar Salad. Featuring petite romaine, grilled hearts of artichoke, chopped Applewood smoked bacon, shaved parmesan cheese, then covered with house-made black garlic Caesar dressing, and served with a tasty, toasted crostini. Then there’s the Grilled Chicken Citrus Salad. This delicious salad combines romaine lettuce, spinach, and arugula with rainbow tomatoes, candied pecans, cranberries, and feta cheese, and is topped with a house-made citrus vinaigrette and grilled marinated chicken.

BURGERS
Feature Film Burger

Holy moly, these burgers…. First up, the Feature Film Burger – Surf & Turf. LOOK AT THIS BEAST!! This unique twist on a classic is a signature blend of beef and house-made seasoning served on a brioche bun. It is then topped with a shrimp and crab cake, pepper jack cheese, chipotle hollandaise sauce, grilled onions, heirloom tomato, arugula, and house-made vinaigrette.

Pork on Pork Burger

I’m sure my husband would love that, because he is a connoisseur of Disney crab cakes on both coasts, but surf is not for me. HOWEVER, this Pork on Pork Burger is another story!! This is a grilled house-made pork patty topped with roasted pork belly, white sharp cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, cabbage slaw, and a house-made Carolina mustard sauce. OOOOOOOOH BABY! Gimme gimme gimme!

DESSERT
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Desserts
Photo: Disney

The Red Planet is a delicious white chocolate cheesecake with blueberry compote on a graham cracker tart with a matcha sponge and gold candied pecans. For a more tropical option, we have the Out-of-this-World Sci-Fi Swirl. This dish features a pineapple mousse with passion fruit cosmic swirl and a spiced lime spaceship garnished with space dust and blood orange coulis.

My Review

Film Clip

So, if I’m being completely honest, while I enjoyed the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant, it wasn’t really something that made me want to go back again and again. It was more like a “well we did this once, that’s enough” situation. But this new menu has me second-guessing myself! I’ll be looking to add this one to an upcoming trip, for sure! What about you? Do you want to try the new foods?!

International or Domestic Travel

0 0
Read Time:4 Minute, 48 Second

Determining Which Type of Travel is Best For You: International or Domestic Travel

Knowing whether to choose international or domestic travel is hard enough on its own, but COVID has made things even tougher. So which type of travel is right for you? And how do you know? Let’s look at the Pros and Cons of both International and Domestic Travel!

International Travel – Pros

International or Domestic Travel: clear glass museum during golden hour

So you want to see the world. GREAT! Me, too! But it’s not like you just wake up in the morning and think, “I’m going to go to England today.” Or maybe you do, but I certainly don’t! It will take time, money, research, and planning!

Meet Incredible People

When you travel, you will meet all kinds of people from all walks of life. These people will have different dreams, aspirations, values, experiences, stories, and more! When you travel internationally, you can meet people where you travel, and you may meet people you are indirectly traveling with, like on a group tour, for example.

Explore Somewhere New

This one is fairly obvious, but needs to be said. Your local Metroparks may have great hiking trails or nature preserves, but there is something special about, say, hiking Machu Picchu. Sometimes, you’ll visit somewhere you’ve dreamt about your whole life. And sometimes, you’ll step outside of your comfort zone and discover something new about not only the world, but also yourself!

Have an Adventure and See the World

I’ve always been a fan of adventures. The Lord of the Rings, Treasure Island, the Call of the Wild: these were some of my favorite books growing up. So why not have an adventure of your own?

See the Beauty that Lives All Over the World

Maybe you want to see the sunrise over the Mediterranean, or take an African Safari on the Serengeti. Whatever your heart’s desire, there is so much beauty in the world. Travel and see some for yourself!

International Travel – Cons

International or Domestic Travel: busy city during night time

Unfortunately, International travel is not for everyone. So let’s explore some Cons of International travel.

The Cost is HIGH

So unfortunately, traveling isn’t free. And traveling abroad is no exception. Not only do you need to pay for transportation, lodging, and food, but, depending on where you go, you may need passports and visas and inoculations, as well as these days, COVID testing. So the cost can add up quickly.

It’s Exhausting

To be sure, all travel can be exhausting. But when you’re traveling all over the world, you can encounter several different time zones in one day. So the phrase “I need a vacation from my vacation” is not all that inaccurate.

There’s Potential Danger

Yes, there’s potential danger in literally everything, but some parts of the world are just not safe. Make sure to do all the necessary research and be smart!

You Might Have to Go Home Again

And, worst of all, this “vacation” thing might end, and they will expect you to go back home one day! They won’t just let you stay indefinitely!

Domestic Travel – Pros

Domestic Travel: adventure autumn california country

So what about domestic travel? There is a ton of natural beauty to see right here at home, so let’s not overlook it!

More Affordable than International Travel

Despite the price of gas, it is still more affordable to drive cross-country, exploring the National Parks, than it is to fly off to Europe. And transportation isn’t the only thing that makes domestic travel more affordable! Lodging can be cheaper, food can be cheaper, and some places, like U.S. National Parks, are low in cost, if not free, to visit.

No Cultural or Language Barriers

It’s not likely that traveling within the United States will be hindered by language or cultural barriers, which is a plus! Sometimes it’s hard to know all the etiquette and rules of a location overseas. And it’s true, we do not all speak the same language!

Easier to Plan Domestic Travel with Friends

Either traveling with friends or visiting with friends at their home, domestic travel is easier to plan with friends than International travel.

Support Local Economies and Businesses

There are so many areas in the U.S. that rely on tourist economies to survive. Domestic travel keeps that money here, bolstering the people that live in touristy areas nationwide.

See the Beauty of THIS Country

Yes, the world is beautiful, but that does not mean there isn’t a ton of beauty right here at home! The Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Yosemite, Crater Lake, Lake Tahoe, there is plenty of beauty right here!

Domestic Travel – Cons

brown grass field

You take the good, you take the bad, right? So what could be bad about traveling domestically?

No New Cuisines

American food is American food, whether it is plant-based, deep fried, or raw. You won’t be getting too far out of your comfort zone by picking another big chain restaurant located in another part of the country!

No New Cultures

Just like with cuisine, you won’t be heading into new cultures inside the U.S.

It is Harder to Disconnect from Real Life

Going off the grid in International travel is much easier. You can simply just not buy an International plan from your cell phone provider. Simple as that. But here, it’s much harder to completely and totally disconnect.

Disney: Winter vs Summer

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 28 Second

All the Information to Choose Disney: Winter vs Summer

I am always asked: when is the best time to go to Disney? The right answer is actually whenever you can! Whether or not you have fun is actually entirely up to you, not the weather or the crowds or any of that. But…when it comes to these two seasons, when is the best time to head to Disney: Winter vs Summer?

Disney: Winter vs Summer?
Looking for Lower Crowds? Consider August!

Travel in Winter – The Pros

Disney: Winter vs Summer?

First up, if there were such a thing as “perfect” weather in Central Florida, it’s the winter time. While it can get cold (by their standards, under 70 is considered cold), the weather is fairly moderate during winter months. It’s best to check the weather daily while packing.

Rumor has it that crowds are lower during the winter months, however, I am going to 100% disagree. More and more people are going during the winter months now than ever before. But there are some times where the parks are more of a ghost town in winter. And if you’re a Festival fan, the Epcot Festival of the Arts takes place during winter months!

Travel in Winter – The Cons

Disney: Winter vs Summer? RunDisney Marathon Weekend

YAY! The weather is nicer! Whoops…there’s more refurbishments. And they’re generally longer, too. The weather and lower crowds give the best combinations for construction crews to get a bunch of the big stuff done with minimal interruption.

Usually, both water parks are open in the summer, though that is not currently the case in post-Covid times. But in the winter months, there is always only one water park open. And it is not uncommon to see them close because of the temperature. If you love water parks, this is probably not the time for you to visit!

And finally, while people think crowds SHOULD be lower, they’re actually not. Holiday weekends, including MLK and President’s Day, plus Mardi Gras, bring MASSIVE crowds to Disney World. Then there’s Marathon Weekend. And, with the way school calendars are managed these days, some spring breaks run into late-February-mid-March! So while it would SEEM that crowds should be lower, in many ways, that is simply not the case!

Travel in Summer – The Pros

Disney: Winter vs Summer?

First of all, I am 100% Team Summer. I have a teenager, and going in summer means there is no school to miss. The other long breaks during the school year fall on holidays, which are generally the busiest times of the year!

Again, while not currently the case, in general, BOTH water parks are open during the summer months. This, of course, provides another great way to Beat the Heat! The heat also gives you a great reason to spend an entire day at your hotel’s pool!

The parks are open earlier and stay open later. My best travel tip in summer is to head out early, take a long break when it’s stupid hot, and go back late at night. It was MUCH better when the parks stayed open even later waaaaaaaay back when, but it can still be done! This gives you more hours in the day to get things done, despite the crowds. Also, PRO TIP: when it rains and everyone leaves? You should stay and take advantage of the low crowds!

Travel in Summer – The Cons

KEEP COOL!

Yes, it is hot. And the heat is only amplified by all of the concrete and asphalt you’re walking on to get around the parks. It is humid. You can swim through the air. And it WILL rain. Sometimes all day. Sometimes for five minutes, but it will happen.

Again, it is allegedly the most crowded time of the year. June and July are crowded, yes, but August is PRIME Disney World Time. We are lucky to have a later school start time, and we have taken advantage of this for years. So while everyone is going back to school, we are enjoying the low crowds of Disney World!

Truthfully, there is no bad time to visit, but I am Team Summer all the way! Contact me today to talk about YOUR Walt Disney World vacation!!
