Flavors of Florida is BACK at Disney Springs! Check out All the Great Food & Drinks Available!

Flavors of Florida is a relatively new celebration during the summer, and it happens at Disney Springs. Over 30 places are taking part this year, focusing on the flavors of Florida. Taking place from July 5 – August 14, 2022, there is a TON of great food and drink to enjoy!

Flavors of Florida – West Side

Flavors of Florida - Downtown Disney

So you’re probably thinking “Downtown Disney? You’re confused!” But, just as the Theme Parks have “Lands,” Disney Springs also has different areas. The West Side originally opened in 1997 as “Downtown Disney – West Side.” Here, you will find great dining and entertainment options, including Cirque du Soleil, AMC, Splittsville, House of Blues, and more! Seven West Side locations are taking part in the Flavors of Florida, and I’ve got the details you want!

City Works Eatery & Pour House

Serving American cuisine and offering a massive selection of craft brews, this “upbeat restaurant meets ultimate sports bar” is offering a Smokehouse Cuban. Hardwood smoked pulled pork shoulder, ham, shaved hot link, smoked provolone, Robonaut red mustard & spicy bread-and-butter pickles, all on a Cuban roll! You can (and really SHOULD) make Advanced Dining Reservations!

Splittsville Luxury Lanes

Flavors of Florida - Splittsville

Did you know that there is a retro-style bowling alley at Walt Disney World?! YEP! And if you’re looking for some incredible fun for the whole family, consider renting a lane!

But if you’re not in the mood to bowl, you can still make an Advanced Dining Reservation in the dining room for some of the best food you’ll have on property! For the Flavors of Florida Celebration, you can enjoy Grilled Key West Pink Shrimp Salad. This is grilled shrimp served over a spring mix with strawberries, oranges, cucumbers, tomato, parsley, onions, and feta, tossed in a strawberry vinaigrette! And then, you can wash it down with Spiked Guava Lemonade! St. Augustine Vodka with guava puree and fresh squeezed lemon juice, topped with a splash of soda water!

And finally, at the brand new amazing ice cream scoop shop, Salt & Straw, get some strawberry honey balsamic with black pepper ice cream!

Disney Springs – Town Center

Disney Springs Town Center

We’re moving right along into the Town Center neighborhood. You are probably most familiar with this area, especially if you pop in from the bus depot. This stretches from World of Disney all the way into the West Side, and features a vast array of dining and shopping. Here is where you will also find the Welcome Center, where you can grab your Flavors of Florida guide!

Disney Springs: The Best Eats, Treats, and Shopping!

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 51 Second

Do you go to Disney Springs or do you skip Disney Springs? It used to be a skip for me, always. And then, I began to really explore! It has SO much to offer, and it is so much more than just a mall! The restaurants are great, the snacks are unbelievable, and the shops are incredible! Here is my collection of the best eats, treats, and shopping available in Disney Springs.

Disney Springs: The Best Eats

As always, I’m just here for the food! Disney Springs has SO many fantastic restaurants to eat at, both table service and quick service. Most of them are not Disney-owned, and, because of this, many of them have reservations available on Open Table, in addition to the Disney reservation system. Also, since they are not owned by Disney, they are not all as accommodating with food allergies. Personally, I have never had an issue, but I have read about people who have, so I would advise doing your research!

  1. THE BOATHOUSE. This is, hands down, my FAVORITE dining location at Disney Springs. The location, the atmosphere, the food…I just love it.
  • Price range: $$-$$$
  • Indoor and Outdoor seating available
  • Seafood and Steak
  • Sunday-Saturday: Lunch and Dinner
  • Saturday & Sunday 10-2: serving Brunch with live entertainment
  • Advanced Dining Reservations strongly encouraged
Disney Springs Polite Pig

2. The Polite Pig. This quick service restaurant, located right next to the elevators of the Lime Parking Garage, is the best quick service meal you will ever have. As the name suggests, bbq menu and mostly pork. Oh, and bourbon….lots of bourbon!

Disney Springs Homecomin

3. Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’. The BEST southern comfort food around! Open daily for lunch and dinner, and open for brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Advanced Dining Reservations STRONGLY recommended.

4. Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant. If you like Irish food, this is the place for you. This is a much better option than Rose & Crown in Epcot, in my opinion. Weekend brunch, lunch and dinner daily, and LIVE ENTERTAINMENT!! Advanced Dining Reservations strongly recommended!

Disney Springs D-Luxe Burger

5. D-Luxe Burger. Just…..the best burgers I’ve ever had! Plus, they offer mobile ordering. So if you’re getting hungry trying to find your way out of World of Disney, you can order yourself a burger and pick it up after you leave!

Disney Springs-The Best Places for Treats

Need a snack? For me, with Celiac, the FIRST place I want to go is Erin McKenna’s! But that aside, here is my collection of the best places to go for a snack!

Disney Springs Gideon's Bakehouse
  1. Gideon’s Bakehouse. This place is so popular it has a VIRTUAL QUEUE. 3-words: HALF. POUND. COOKIES.
Disney Springs Erin McKenna's Bakery

2. Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC. If you have food allergies, this is the place for you! They are vegan, kosher, and gluten free. They have everything from basic chocolate chip cookies, to homemade whoopie pies, to whole cakes. And they are all tasty and amazing.

3. Sprinkles. Love cupcakes? This is the place for you. They even have a cupcake vending machine.

4. Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop. Ghirardelli chocolate and ice cream. Need I say more?

5. Everglazed Donuts.

Disney Springs-The Best Shopping

The best part about Disney Springs is that you can easily get your souvenir shopping done and over with on the first day!

Disney Springs The Lego Store
The Lego Store
  1. World of Disney – a MASSIVE Disney Store! Shirts, Shoes, dresses, toys, stuffed animals, phone cases, dolls, puzzles, board games, Ear headbands, nuiMos, kitchen decor, home decor, you name it, they probably have it! AND they now feature scan and go, so you don’t have to wait in long lines to check out!
  2. Disney’s Days of Christmas – it’s Christmas ALL YEAR LONG! Walls and walls full of Disney Christmas Ornaments and other Christmas decor make this a very popular shop!
  3. Basin – amazing bath and body supplies.
  4. The Lego Store – the best part about this shop is wandering around and taking in all the amazing Lego sculptures!
Disney Springs the Lego Store
The Lego Store – Sorcerer Mickey

5. Marketplace Co-Op – currently the home of the Walt Disney World Vault Collection, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World!
6. Vera Bradley – Vera Bradley bags full of Disney style!
7. Super Hero Headquarters – All your Marvel goods in one place. Marvel Avengers Campus may be stuck on the West Coast, but Marvel goods are here in Florida!
8. The Art of Disney – amazing works of art, all the way from postcards to framed original art.

So did your favorite make the list? You can read more about Disney Springs here! What is your go to arrival day activity?

Halloween Treats at Disney Springs!!

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 49 Second

I have a new appreciation for Disney Springs. Full disclosure: it used to be a place I avoided like the plague. But now, and this may be merely because we’re living in a plague, I love Disney Springs. I think there are tons of amazing restaurants and quirky bakeries and unique shops to check out and it’s definitely worth a day trip over there. My one true complaint is that it is so difficult to get over there using Disney Transportation. Especially if you want to pop over for dinner and make it back to a park before it closes. Not easy to do. Other than that, it’s becoming one of my favorite places to go. And now, there’s even more reason to head over there! Presenting: DISNEY SPRINGS HALLOWEEN TREATS!!!

Photo: Disney

Amorette’s Patisserie – I LOVE THE HAUNTED MANSION! Look at this!!! It’s so pretty, I’m not sure I could eat it!!

  • Haunted Mansion Petit Cake – Chocolate and vanilla chiffon cakes, with chocolate brownie, and diplomat cream sprinkled with candy-coated chocolate pieces and chocolate chips
  • Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake Roll – Pecan Chiffon cake, pumpkin cheesecake filling, and dulce nutmeg chocolate mousse
  • Pumpkin Crème Brûlée – Pumpkin custard with brûléed sugar, candied pecans, spiced whipped cream, and raspberry cranberry tuile
Photo: Disney

It’s no secret that my FAVORITE place at Disney Springs is Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC. Living with Celiac is a pain in the backside, and I rarely get homemade desserts and sweets. It’s incredibly disheartening when Disney releases their treats and snacks and there are rarely things for people with food allergies. Erin McKenna’s is a gluten free, vegan, and kosher bakery that is SUPERB for people with food allergies. And it’s delicious. So I was OF COURSE so incredibly excited to see them in this foodie guide!!

  • Vegan and Gluten-Free Halloween Cupcakes and Brownie Bars – Vanilla and chocolate cupcakes and chocolate brownies topped with vanilla frosting and decorated with spooky designs
  • Vegan and Gluten-Free Halloween Sugar Cookie Kit – Six sugar skull shaped cookies, Six sugar pumpkin-shaped cookies, purple, orange, and white icing, and sprinkles
  • Vegan and Gluten-Free Custom Cakes – Available by pre-order only; Call (855) GOBABYCAKES to learn more.

The Ganachery will have some great goodies that you are not going to want to miss!! Photo: Disney

At Disney Springs most popular location, Gideon’s Bakehouse, you can get the amazing Frankenstein Cookie. This cookie, which is one of their 1/2 pound cookies (yes, you read that right) is filled with chocolates, chocolate sandwich cookies, and M&Ms. But wait, there’s more! The Bride of Frankenstein Cookie – almost ½ pound cookie filled with white chocolate, golden chocolate sandwich cookies, and M&M’s. And last but certainly not least, Frankencake – Three layers of chocolate cake, cookies & cream buttercream, layers of M&M’s, and spooky reverse ganache.

Date Night Dinners

0 0
Read Time:5 Minute, 23 Second

All the BEST Restaurants to Visit for Your Date Night Dinner at Walt Disney World!

So you’re at Disney World, either with your kids or without your kids or you don’t have kids, whatever the situation, it’s just you and your special someone. And you want to have a date night. It’s not a lost cause, because Disney is NOT just for kids! There are plenty of great options for date night dinners!

However, what do you do with your kids? Now, for parents traveling with extended family, like grandparents or aunts and uncles, you may not think twice about going out for a dinner just yourselves. But not everyone has that option. FEAR NOT! Try Kids Nite Out!

But back to why you’re here, THE FOOD! Here are some of the best restaurants for date night at Walt Disney World!

High-End, Fine and Signature Dining

date night dinners at disney

Believe it or not, there are restaurants at Walt Disney World that are so fancy they actually have dress codes and age limits. So we’ll start there!

The California Grill – Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Date Night Dinners - Watch Disney's Enchantment from the California Grill

Located on the 15th floor of the Contemporary, and accessed via private elevator, this is by far the most popular of date night dinners. It’s probably the view of the Magic Kingdom and the fireworks. While not personally my cup of tea, I can absolutely understand the appeal.

The cuisine is California-themed and they also feature over 300 wines, most from California, for guests 21 and over. This is a hard-to-get reservation, so be prepared. You MIGHT not get one! But don’t give up! People cancel reservations all the time. Also, there is a dress code. Learn more about Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Victoria & Albert’s – The Grand Floridian
Date Night Dinners - Victoria & Albert's New Menu

Photo: Disney

Coming back with a brand new look and delicious new menu, Victoria & Albert’s, at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, is the fanciest of fancy locations for your date night dinner.

It is incredibly expensive (like $295 per person expensive), hard to get into (and there is a $100 cancellation fee if you cancel within 5 days of your reservation), and it has a formal/semi-formal dress code. Despite ALL of this, it is completely popular. Advanced Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance, and you’re going to need them!

Narcoosee’s – Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
disney grand floridian

Located on the “coast” of the Grand Floridian, this surf-and-turf specialty restaurant offers spectacular views of Disney’s Enchantment, but with a romantic seaside setting. Featuring not only fresh seafood from local sources and around the world, but also land fare, like filet mignon.

This is another hard-to-get reservation and another location with a dress code.

Signature Dining for Regular People

If you’re looking for a date night dinner that won’t break the bank or require you to pack a ballgown, there are plenty of amazing options available to you!

The Boathouse – Disney Springs
Date Night Dinners - The BOATHOUSE

A night at Disney Springs deserves a stop at the Boathouse. The great food and drinks are tough to beat. This is an incredibly popular restaurant so reservations are a must! I make absolutely no secret that this is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World. Absolutely love it.

Additionally, being in Disney Springs adds to the Date Night milieu! Want to cap the date night with an unforgettable event? Take a ride in an Amphicar or take flight in the Aerophile!

Le Cellier – EPCOT, World Showcase

Located in the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT, this is for SURE one of my personal favorites, if only for the maple creme brulee. Le Cellier specializes in regional Canadian cuisine, including steaks, fresh seafood, cheesy poutine, and Canadian beer. Oh, and delicious creme brulee. Did I mention the creme brulee?

It should come as no surprise when I say, reservations are incredibly hard to get. But it is totally worth it. Can’t get a reservation? Guess what? It’s time for Food & Wine, so get the filet at the Canada booth!

Sanaa – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
date night dinners

Sanaa is located at Animal Kingdom Lodge and offers African and Indian cooking with a view of the animals on the Savannah. People FLOCK here (get it?) just for the bread service. Enjoy the animals grazing the savannah prior to your reservation time, as an added bonus to your date night dinner!

Sanaa is great for all diets, but it is also a favorite stop for vegans and vegetarians. It is a family-friendly restaurant but there is a personal, romantic feeling to the dining area, especially at night.

Chefs De France – EPCOT, World Showcase
chefs de france date night

Time to head back to World Showcase to dine in the France Pavilion at Chefs De France. Dine on seasonal French Cuisine and sip on the Imported French Wines and Champagne! Don’t forget to finish off with the creme brulee or the tarte au chocolat! With the Eiffel Tower, it’s quite the romantic date night dinner setting!

The Hollywood Brown Derby – Hollywood Studios, Hollywood Boulevard
Hollywood brown derby

If your date night includes a trip to Batuu, make sure to first dine at the Hollywood Brown Derby. Inspired by the original Brown Derby, you will dine on California cuisine! Try the famous Cobb Salad, named after the original owner of the Brown Derby, Bob Cobb, or the absolutely AMAZING burger, and finish up with the grapefruit sponge cake!

Tiffins – Disney’s Animal Kingdom
tiffins at disney's animal kingdom

Does your date night involve visiting Pandora? Tiffins is the place for you! Inspired by Africa and Asia, this dining location offers a delicious stop with great food and great views. Tiffins is another location known for it’s bread service, but if you can’t get into the restaurant for your date night dinner, try Nomad Lounge, located right next door, instead!

La Hacienda de San Angel – EPCOT, World Showcase
watch Disney's Harmonious

Want to cap a night at EPCOT with a front-row seat for the all-new Harmonious? Try to get a reservation about an hour and a half before the scheduled fireworks show at La Hacienda and ask to sit at the windows! Located in the Mexico Pavilion on the waterfront, this delicious Mexican restaurant is PERFECT for your date night dinners!

What is your favorite Date Night Dinner at Disney? Did yours make my list? Let me know! When you’re ready to book your next Walt Disney World Vacation, I’m ready to help! Contact me today to talk about your upcoming vacation!

Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC

0 0
Read Time:3 Minute, 12 Second

Good morning! How about a nice pastry for breakfast? Sounds AMAZING, right? Oh, but you can’t do that. You have food allergies. So you have to sit at Walt Disney World and watch all the normies eat all the yummy nomz while you chew on a sugar packet or two. OR you can head to Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC at Disney Springs and get your OWN pastries!

Disney Destinations are FANTASTIC with food allergies. There are options everywhere, for simple and complex allergies. You can read all about WDW and their Special Dietary Requests policy here. The basics: talk to a chef everywhere you eat. Simple as that. They can easily accommodate Top 8 allergies. If you have a more complex, or lesser known, allergy, you may email special.diets@disneyworld.com and let them know what you need.

So back to the pastries….I’m sure you’ve seen posts about amazing baked goodies shops like Gideon’s or Everglazed Donuts, or Amorette’s Pastisserie, and drooled. But in the back of your mind, you know there’s not a chance there is a safe, dedicated place where they can safely make allergy-friendly baked goods. So you know you’ll never ever enjoy those delicious nummies. And you get sad.

Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC

NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND!!! Have you ever heard of Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC? They are a DEDICATED gluten, dairy, egg, and soy free bakery, specializing in gluten-free, vegan, and kosher baked goods. Located at Disney Springs (and, obviously, NYC and other locations), no longer do you (or kids) have to watch everyone else eat baked goodies while you chew on another chalk cookie or eat another dish of gelato. You can now get SAFE cupcakes, and cookies, and bagels, and donuts, and cake slices, and cake, and more. AND THEY ARE DELICIOUS.

Erin McKenna's Bakery NYC

My last visit, I got myself a lemon blueberry cupcake (that I ate almost as soon as they handed it to me) and a MASSIVE chocolate whoopee pie (that was not only delicious, but survived the plane ride home) that was to die for. It was amazing. It did not taste like other gluten free baked goods I’ve had before, it was as close to the “real thing” I’ve had since I discovered gluten makes me sick. Such an awesome option, and it is on the docket for every single trip for the rest of my life.

To get these yummy, delicious, safe-for-you treats, just head over to Disney Springs and get in line at Erin McKenna’s. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! You don’t have to just wait in line! You can order ahead for pickup OR order to have it delivered! HOW AWESOME IS THAT??!?!?! You could potentially order for the week, have it delivered to your room when you arrive, and be set up for morning pastries and goodies for the week!

Erin McKenna's Bakery online ordering
To order from their awesome website, click here

For me, while I love going to Disney Springs, I don’t always find it the most convenient thing to do. The busing scenarios can sometimes be a nightmare, and the lines can be long. So the thought of getting off the plane at MCO, going to their site, and placing an order THRILLS me! I could have my goodies delivered to my room and likely get there at the same time they do! I cannot WAIT. Plus, if you want to get a large order (like multiple bagels and cupcakes and cookies for the week) it might not be that much fun to carry them all over Disney Springs THEN to take it on a bus.
